The phrase “Growatt inverter” covers several different product families. Some are off-grid inverters, some are hybrid inverters, some are battery-ready grid-tie inverters and some require a specific high-voltage battery architecture. Before choosing a battery, write down the complete model number from the label or monitoring app.
Growatt SPF / ES off-grid models
Growatt SPF and ES models are popular in Pakistan, Africa, Asia, Australia and off-grid markets. Many of these systems use 48V battery banks and are often paired with LiFePO4 rack batteries. They may support lithium communication through CAN or RS485 depending on the exact model and firmware. If no closed-loop profile is available, installers sometimes use user-defined settings, but that should be done carefully.
Growatt SPH hybrid models
SPH inverters are grid-connected hybrid models used for solar self-consumption and backup. Some SPH variants are low-voltage battery models, while others are region-specific. The key is to check the approved battery list for your exact inverter name, not just the SPH label.
Growatt MIN/MOD/MID XH battery-ready models
Battery-ready XH inverters often work with Growatt high-voltage battery systems such as ARK XH or APX, depending on the region and model. These are not the same as 48V rack batteries. Connecting the wrong voltage class can damage equipment and void warranty.
Growatt HU and newer hybrid families
Newer HU or APX-focused systems may have more specific battery requirements. For these, rely on current Growatt documentation, regional product manuals and installer commissioning notes.
